Mitchell and Webb - ‘Can People Levitate’?

Heard the audio of this on the Sound of Young America today. Made me laugh. Thought it might make you laugh too…

Merlin makes me laugh. His daughter, Eleanor, plots the “destruction of Earth as [we] know it.”

MBW quote of the show

Andy Inhatko, columnist for the Chicago Sun Times and frequent panel member on MacBreak Weekly had a brilliant quote on the most recent installment of MBW, “Internet Pants,” when he succinctly discribed his job as a writer:

“My job is to convert synaptic misfirings into discretionary income.”

Such a fine way to put it. I had to share.

“The average Atlanta resident with a job drives 66 miles every day. In fact, people here drive so much that if you added up every commute and every trip to a store or soccer practice on just one day, you’d get a number that’s larger than the distance between the Earth and the sun.”

Life in the ‘Burbs: Heavy Costs for Families, Climate : NPR (although I’d like to see a breakdown on those numbers. (via merlin)

Ditto on the desire to see the details, but even just thinking about the daily commutes, et al, in this way is a good place to start. F it. I’m going to work towards taking a page out of Merlin’s book… towards a job where I get paid to type! Saving the world via commute-free jobs! - Stroke

I’ve posted here before about my frustrations with poor English in Corporate America. This took the cake for me. Someone spent money out of their budget to have this nice vinyl sign made for our Customer Service department… As I told Karl in an email missive about the same:
“That may have been one of the more difficult questions on a 5th grade Language Arts test regarding verb/noun agreement, but it’s still a 5th grade question.”
Unbelievable!
